Few things in the sports world beat a rivalry between two teams because they give meaning to a competition. It doesn’t matter if it’s amateur or professional because they always want to win. But many top teams have taken things to the next level and trolled their rivals off the field.

So today we’ll look at many situations where franchises and teams trolled their rivals to hilarious results. Many of these teams used their official Twitter accounts to great effect. Others had clever in-game ideas that humiliated their foes. But they all brought a smile to their fans and opposing fans, so check them out right here.

Lions Lol

The Detroit Lions don’t win much these days but they produce an occasional laugh. We’re not just talking about their antics on the field. Sometimes their Twitter account is also genuinely funny. This time they targeted NFL on Fox after the show’s panel went against them.

All of their analysts selected the Saints to beat the Lions in New Orleans. However, Detroit belied their underdog status and seized the victory. Then their official Twitter page released a hilarious statement that consisted of a single emoji. Words weren’t necessary as they trolled the TV network (via USA Today).

Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best basketball players of his era. However, he does have a single weakness of shooting free throws. It’s the one area of the game where he is less consistent. This happened twice and negated the free throw attempts. Then, Brooklyn installed a 10-second timer when the Bucks played them. They encouraged their fans to count when he had a free throw. In the end, the NBA stepped in and used an obscure rule to prevent them from continuing.

The Calgary Flames took Twitter trolling to a new subtle level when they played the Vancouver Canucks. They enraged their fellow Canadian franchise after they signed three of their players. During their next game, there was a recurring theme on their social media challenges.

Some of the best troll jobs come out of nowhere. The Saints made headlines in 2022 when they tore into their divisional rivals, the Falcons. They ruthlessly trolled Atlanta after they installed a new express elevator at the Superdome. Check out their hilarious online assault below.

They released a graphic that said the elevator travels 28.3 times faster than before. This was unbelievably petty because the Falcons blew the same scoreline in Super Bowl LI. The Saints didn’t even play in that game but they were happy to remind their foes about it (The Spun).

They knew that a Washington victory would seal the division title for the franchise. However, the Giants were also in contention for the NFC East title.
