30. Pole Vaulting<\/h3>\n

Pole vaulting is one of those sports that looks pretty cool on TV during the Olympics, but you always wonder how do people get started in this sport in the first place? Vaulters launch themselves almost 20 feet into the air while trying to clear a bar set at a particular height. It looks very graceful but a lot can go wrong.<\/p>\n

Yes, you read that right. Swimming is actually statistically one of the most dangerous sports on the planet because of the sheer number of global fatalities. The US Center for Disease Control reported that from 2005 to 2014, 3535 people died annually from drowning unintentionally (non-boat related injuries) in the United States alone.<\/p>\n
